Scantron Test Forms on Cardboard (40” x 84”)
The scantrons in this work were collected last year from audience members who participated in my performance - installation piece Testing In Progress. Participants were asked to sit at school desks for an undetermined amount of time supplied with writing materials and scantrons. The end result was hundreds of scraps of paper littering the floor of the space, with writings and drawings attesting to our collective memories and experiences of being graded, critiqued, judged, and labeled based on our ability to properly bubble in multiple choice questions in a timely manner. Thank goodness the outcome didn’t affect anything. Thanks for showing up.
