Hello Friends! This fall, AVIDduo is playing a concert on the Old Wood New Sounds series! Our performance will be September 15, 2014 at Sugar Tank Studio in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Buy your tickets through the Kickstarter and receive a free live performance download of the show. If you can't make it to Lancaster, donate at the $25 level and receive a live recording of the entire AVIDduo concert. Program consists of music by Joshua Clausen, Anna E. Garman, Kendra Kestner, Tyler Kline, Marc Mellits, Sam Melnick, Mark Oliveiro, and Kirk O'Riordan. Support live music and new music by donating; see the video below for more information from Kate Umble, founder and director of OWNS. Last week I traveled to Sacramento, CA to compete as a finalist in the MPE Int'l Competition. Although I did not win the grand prize, it was a terrific experience and I met some truly wonderful people. It was a great time, and I was fortunate enough to come home with a cash prize!
A late upload, but enjoy this video from a (not so) recent performance with Alexander Richards and Jerrod Wendland of Don Freund's Louder Than Words! Two weeks ago, AVIDduo met up in Dallas, TX to prepare for our Educational Tour sponsored by Music-1st. We gave performances and presentations on contemporary music to students at fourteen different schools in the area followed by a recital at Rock & Bach Performing Arts School in Frisco. AVIDduo recently traveled to Iowa to play a few concerts at Luther College and Coe College. Read about it here. On that trip we premiered two new works Celebration of Flight by Sy Brandon and Platinum by Zach Zubow. The videos are finally up, so I hope you enjoy these two new pieces for flute and saxophone! Check out the video from a recent performance at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA! is himself no more for tenor saxophone and super collider by Ted Moore. is himself no more from Ted Moore on Vimeo.
